Spice Rub

Yield:Yields about 4-1/2 oz.; enough for about an 8 lb. chicken.

This is a good all-purpose rub forchicken, and it goes well with all three sauces.

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbs. onion salt
  • 1 Tbs. seasoned salt, such as Lawry’s
  • 1 Tbs. garlic salt
  • 2 Tbs. paprika
  • 1-1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp. lemon pepper
  • 1 Tbs. dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. dried rosemary, crumbled
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne

Preparation

  • Combine all the ingredients and blend well. Store in an airtight container.

    My salt free version is to replace the onion and garlic salt with onion and garlic powder. I replace the seasoned salt with paprika. Nice combination of flavors that can easily changed by substituting different herbs.
