What is it?
A less expensive, but completely adequate substitute for Champagne, brut sparkling wines are dry wines with a lower level of sweetness and a higher level of carbon dioxide gas, which is either naturally occurring or due to carbon dioxide injection. Cava and Cremant d’Alsace are examples of a brut sparkling wine. They are fine choices for an aperitif and pair well with lighter seafood and shellfish appetizers.
