FromFine Cooking#129, p. 6
Much as hollywood has the golden globes and oscars, the culinary world has the James Beard Foundation (JBF) Awards and the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) Awards. Granted, the Hollywood awards are a whole lot glitzier, but hey, there’s a red carpet at the Beard Awards, too.
We’re proud thatFine Cookingwas named a finalist in this year’s IACP Publication of the Year category and excited about so many of our contributors being recognized by both awards programs. There are too many to name everyone here, but from our June/July 2014 issue alone, we have longtime contributors John Ash andDeborah Madison, as well as Matt Jennings, a relative newcomer to our pages. John’s latest book,Culinary Birds, is a finalist for a James Beard Foundation Book Award, while Deborah’sVegetable Literacywon an IACP Cookbook Award and is a finalist for a Beard book award, too. Matt is up for JBF Best Chef: Northeast. JBF winners will be announced on May 2, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for them!
Meanwhile, over in TV land, our showMoveable Feast with Fine Cookingis now a triple award winner. We won a Taste Award for best new show, a silver Telly Award for best TV programs-videography, and a bronze Telly Award for best TV programs-documentary (silver is the top honor; bronze is second place). If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch full episodes atFineCooking.tv. Congratulations to all-finalists and winners alike!
UPDATE:I have an exciting update to share: Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking is nominated for an Emmy® in the “Outstanding Culinary Program” category. We’re beyond excited; wish us luck!
