Preparing dessert bars is like making cookies, only quicker, because you don’t need to roll, spoon, or pipe each cookie separately. Plus, these allow you to offer guests a choice of three or four different desserts without having to spend a whole day baking. Layers allow you to vary texture and flavor, such as a brownie with chocolate cream cheese and chocolate glaze. You probably have all the ingredients and equipment you’ll need, and the recipes can be adjusted easily to fit different-sized pans. Take your time cutting them, though; the presentation will be worth it.
